explain jeep and truck identification numbers please

Fellow Enthusiasts,

I am trying to learn about the vehicle markings I see on Soviet jeeps and trucks during the GPW.

I want to be able to mark my jeep correctly.

Can anyone explain how to decipher the markings.

Do they refer to army, brigade, regiment? What is the format?

I have included some examples of what I am asking about.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!
