Mark's SA Buckle - Opinions Please

Well you give a very pausable explanation.

I have tried a bit of an experiment with 2 of the "fake" buckles you have shown plus Mark's one.

I have layered all 3 on top of one another, and made them semi transparent.

I think that you can see that the similarities are remarkable. Apart from the eagles head being larger on one of them, the roundels match very well.

Thankyou for the "layering" exercise and yes, I agree with you.

I am absolutely sure that we have a "fantasy" roundel here, albeit very similar in all respects to what we normally expect.

As a slight after thought - perhaps you may wish look at image number 4 on this thread. It includes one buckle where the roundel has a slightly "pebbled" background. Is the one newly attached part of this horrible family - I think yes !!
