I wonder why this leaders buckle not ever was being mentioned in the
"Verordnungsblatt der Obersten SA-Führung" nor the "Mitteilungsblatt
    der Reichszeugmeisterei
". We all know the buckle and its brocade was
used with various occasions. Photos do proof this, for example during
the 1938 visit at Rome (see revised edition Angolia, page 191).

Was there a sort of probationary period? Its official introduction in 1939
would have been okay, as then also for political leaders a buckle and
brocade were introduced in about spring! Not even with uniform changes
for the SA, since then up to 1941, its use was mentioned.

Was its introduction planned, but never really was a fact? Is any of you
guys able to supply information. Is there a letter of newspaper article
    which can shed some light?

I have no idea why the SA-Feldbinde is not mentioned in the Verordnungsblatt der Obersten SA-Führung, and it may well be the case that it was not, in fact, generally introduced. The Mitteilungsblatt der RZM, on the other hand, contains no specific descriptions of any Feldbinden at all. Not HJ, not Politische Leiter. But it does contain a highly detailed description of the buckle for the leather PL-Leibriemen. I seem to recall that Feldbinden were available from the RZM only, the RZM placing orders with manufacturers, and not to be supplied to licensed shops by manufacturers (but can't find the precise source right now). My interpretation is that the RZM provided manufacturing specifications only to those companies they placed orders with. But I may well be wrong on that.

Sorry, but I do have to contradict.

The brocade for political leaders is mentioned September 23, 1939 in the
Mitteilungsblatt der RZM and is described as article-number 7738. With
7738a the buckle is being noted and as article 7994 the aiguillette.

There is however no further information about the brocade mentioned
just as it was to be deleted from the list, along with the buckle and
aiguillette. The subject was not returned.

From this it is obvious one could not simply buy these items, but just
purchased from the RZM through the appropriate office (Dienststelle).
The RZM granted specific concerns with its manufacturing (stated in
"Die Uniformen der Politischen Leiter der NSDAP", Anordnung 9/39
from April 2, 1939); Zweite Ausführungsbestimmung Anordnung
23/39). One should note the uniform was granted only. The official
introduction-date for the brocade and aiguillette was June 1, 1939.
It was specified who were authorized for wearing.

    Wilhelm

I'm totally with you, of course there are references to brocades. What I meant is there are no detailed manufacturing descriptions for any Feldbinden or their buckles in the RZM-Mitteilungsblatt.

Sorry, but there was a full detailed description for the political leaders buckle,
    published as a manufacturing-regulation in 1939. The pages are 42 and 43.
They returned the subject with issue 15 from July 29, 1939 as an addendum to
the manufactirung-regulation for the earlier mentioned pages.

There were no descriptions known to me for the brocade, but the 1939 manufacturing-
regulation for that year is not complete. It is out somewhere. For over 30 years I am
looking for a complete version of the 1939 RZM Herstellungsvorschriften.

Isn't that the description for the Leibriemen buckle? Surely the RZM would not have left it up to manufacturers to scale down dimensions for the Feldbinde buckle on their own volition? There must have been manufacturing specifications that were just as detailed for the smaller Feldbinde buckle.

Yes, you are right. Sorry! It is just the buckle for the leather belt.

I have no idea if the smaller version was included in the 1939
manufacturing-regulations. Here the drawing and what I said
about the smaller version, as written in my article for the
"Military Advisor", number 1 from winter 1999/2000 (so many
    years ago).

It would be great when the 1939 manufacturing regulations
were found. Who knows what is included. Maybe even the SA
    high leaders buckle.

By the way: if your read well the description for the political
leaders buckle and its manufacturing then one knows
immediately that the so-called silver version "story" is one
for the sewerage! Just "mittelgold" is being mentioned.
