    Hi All,

Agreed as to Overhoff by way of the box construction (ears, prongs, dimple) but also by way of the very distinctive roundel design which is associated with this maker. A very nice variant of SA buckle.

    Best,
    Adam

Here i have two other buckles in nickel over brass .

For me Markus it is the ears and the solder points, maybe the other is a variant of Overhoff?

    Hi Guys,

In my eyes, the top buckle is undoubtedly by Overhoff. The 2nd buckle is harder to say as it does not scream OLC by way of construction. Here again though we see the same roundel design strongly linked to Overhoff.

As many of us know, SA buckles and particularly those from the early period, can be quite an odd & mixed bunch. With uncertainty about the early relationships between companies like Overhoff & Assmann, the "cottage industry", box/roundel swapping, etc. who knows?! This often gives them a unique (if at times bizarre) character and makes them an interesting group. For myself, this is part of the fun and appeal of SA buckles.

    Best,
    Adam

P.S. - Ben, compare the 2nd buckle and the box of your non-ugly prongs Stahlhelmbund... (well, sort of...just took a look and see apparent differences)
