Here is a rarely seen buckle that the references say is for Storm Battalion Danzig. These were used from Sept-Dec 1939. It seems these were made up from various left over boxes. I had a identical box to this with a Mining Association insignia.

First one I have ever had in hand. Angolia shows two variations, Nash shows one and The French Buckle book shows one. All slightly different.

Nice buckle. I think my buckle was converted from a Mining Association Buckle. Your could have also been a Mining Buckle. The one in Nash’s book is like your but nickel on nickel.

    sure???
the originality or existence of such a piece is still more than controversial!
there is no contemporary evidence (photos, sales catalogs) which prove the existence of these Typ of Buckels
The mentioned book / author only provide hypotheses, no evidence!

    Now sting me!

You can never a 100% sure on a buckle like this. In hand I like the buckle or I would have returned it. Everyone of these buckle I have seen in the books or in person are different. The unit was small and formed right after the invasion of Poland, if you believe the books.

    Hello,

yes Karsten i know the problem.

That is one of my oldest buckles from end 1970'th years .

It came with a SA tunic and a big lot of other SA badges from a cutter in Lüdenscheid .

All items from this lot were 100% original .

I had my self doupts about and i wouldn't by it on market ......

But under this aspects i think it is a real one .

When it is a fake , why do not you think about it anymore ?
    Regards ,
    Markus
