Hi there,

For my second instalment, a Karl Malsch Spitzer (large S containing K,M) - Steinbach SA dagger. Gruppe marked Mi.

This dagger is not one that we stumble across so often. The motto etching has a very unique style that is typical of this particular maker. The dark SA emblem on the grip contrasts the light wood with black grain quite stupendously. The overall fit of the grip is tight, but dimensionally imperfect in areas. The blade is perfectly marked by the maker. Unfortunately, the blade tip of this dagger was broken at some point in its life - this could be period or post war, we’ll never know.

The scabbard is in a modest condition - but retains little of the original finish. The scabbard tip has also seen period wear.

I think this dagger has a wonderful character. I welcome any requests for additional photos, criticism or feedback. This is the last of my recent dagger purchases.

Nice One Scotty ..this one shows the flatter type Runes button which was more easier to produce verses the rounded convex type.
The Gruppe mark "Mi' is a nice addition also and not commonly seen.
