Guys,
Last one out of this box of stuff.
It again does not have an RZM marking.
It appears good quality again with Gruppe mark Ns.
Perhaps the leather work is suspect?
Whats your thoughts?
Jock

Hi Jock, another good original dagger
Ns == Niedersachsen
The vertical hanger I think might be OK, but the combination of the two leathers types does look a little strange. Does the dagger exhibit any age wear from this being in place?
Cheers, Ade.
Jock looks like a nice early SA dagger by Wilhelm Hoppe which has a later painted brown scabbard with nickle plated fittings, i have an early NSKK dagger with solid nickle crossguards by Kober in my collection with the scabbard fittings being nickle plated & painted period black so its an ok combination to have imo as things were changing over to the later war materials so they used up all the parts they had at the time, Ns = Niedersachsen for the Gruppe mark, i,m not sure on the leather hanger though?
Regards Scott.
Could a SA/NSKK blade have both marks, the factory mark and RZM mark?
Hi Kris, yes that is fine.
Known as a "transitional" by collectors.
Cheers, Ade.
OK, Ade ,thanks.
Here is a nice site in German about the SA dagger:

Cheers, Ade.
Ade,
struggling with the light. There is a sign of wear as such where the nickle looks better where it has been fitted, saying that it has been in my cellar for 8 years. The mark on the hanger is a bit susp.
RZM UE27, Whats that all about?
Jock
Hi Jock, I think the hanger is OK.
The reasoning behind the RZM marking I cannot now bring to mind, but it is OK.
Cheers, Ade.
