Im no expert, but as no one else has commented I might as well make a start. It looks newly made to me, and the grips dont look right at all, so I would of thought it was a fantasy piece.
I agree, looks fantasy. It's quite pretty though, the grain is very nice and the lozenge fits in well.
I believe the handle is 4th reich. However, more picture are needed to determine if this is a complete copy or a pieced together dagger of fake and authentic parts. As for the piece of metal in the handle, I've never seen something like this on a original. Therefore if this is not a tr period item
, it would be consider fantasy. As for the rest, it did exist in history therefore making it a fake/copy IMO.
Looks like a re-work to me also. Not totally sure, but it appears that only the
wood grip with insert are replaced - possibly because the eagle had been
dug out badly, or the original grip was cracked/broken.........

Steve.
Are you attending this auction?
Thanks, Glen.
Walk on by and dont touch it,, you might get poisoned even more. The blade is junk and the grip is 6th Reich,, nicely made though! Regards Larry

Like Larry stated:
blade is junk, no cross grain on it, its brushed instead of cross grained.....we do not need to talk about the grip.....
and......it would be a little bit better the otherway around in its scabbard, hahahhaha
