SA honor Dagger??

    Default SA honor Dagger??

    Does this thing on Snyder's site have a chance of being real at 35k? Or did someone fantasy up a real SA? I know Snyders rep... but I was wondering.

    Snyder is the 4 th reich specialist......dunno how he gets away with it....he had a gold 20 juli 1944 wound badge, which he admitted was a jewelers copy and still wanted 5 grand for it

    I think you've answered your own question just by looking at Snyder's site. Genuine SA Honour daggers should have a damascus blade with the legend highlighted in a gold coloured metal (real gold?) and a leather scabbard. The scabbard engraving is pure fantasy IMO and is probably a pimped up (and now ruined) original.
    I'm sure the dagger guys will correct anything I've said in error but I can't emphasise enough that you shouldn't go looking at Snyder's site at these high end items and think they're real.

    Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....

    This is a very scarce and unusual presented by Adolf Hitler presentation dagger. All metal parts are gilded even to the dagger hanger clip & buckle.

    The scabbard shows an early party eagle at the top with the SA & fallen comrade inscription in German Sutterlin script.

    The dagger has very deep ornate decoration and embellishments on the cross guard, pommel, blade, and scabbard as can be seen in the images shown. The bottom design shows the early party eagle in a sunburst with MUNCHEN below. The reverse top band is marked nr. 60876 Volk SA 91 which indicates his Golden Party Badge number & membership in that unit.

    The blade is MINT. The reverse side of the blade has a deeply engraved presentation inscription in German Sutterlin script.


    The blade was made by F R vd Kohlen Solingen -- a very uncommon and desirable maker. One interesting historical note: In 1941, Martin Bormann, at Hitler's direction, issued an order that effectively killed Current Sutterlin and Fraktur typefaces. It was a direct reversal of Hitler's earlier position that Antigua and Latin scripts were "Un-German" and "non-Aryan". Only the Fraktur and Gothic typefaces were to be considered "German". There are some slight signs of use from routine wear. Here are other views 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16.

    The inscription below the SA emblem, that is a facsimile of the cuff title 'Feldherrnhalle' in sütterlin script which was was worn by the elite SA Regiment by the same name. The Regiment was commanded by SA Obergruppenführer Erich Reimann. It was disolved on March 31, 1939 and the members either dismissed or incorporated with the "Fallschirmtuppe" (I./ Fallschirm-Jäger-Regiment 2). the "General Göring" Regiment. its "Wachtbaillon" or to armed forces units. On September 4, 1942 it was extended for wear by members of Infanterie-Regiment 217 and it's Replacement Batralions, also known as Infanterie-Regiment 'Feldherrnhalle'. There is more information on the Wachtstandarte Feldherrnhalle in the book Headgear of Hitler's Germany Vol 3, pp. 425-431, the one with the white. FYI, there is a Political Leader's cap on the cover.

    Good one AMTG!! No scruple dealers are attracted more to those that are less knowledgeable and prey on the buyers weakness because the buyer is entranced by the swastika and the mystic that surrounds that time period. Like a spider web or a young guy who goes out on a date without protection,, you get the idea. There are more less knowledgeable new collectors than there are seasoned. All I can say is study study study, and dont be the young guy out on a date that thinks with the wrong head.

    This object (or one just like it) was first pictured in one of the 1st dagger refs. In 1957, the 'raidl & leslie' guide, whose great photography didnt quite take the curse off the errant info and tarted-up daggers like this one. But a lot of fine standard models were there. Too....
