It seems very odd that the maker logo is somewhat obliterated, yet the motto is very crisp,
as well as being quite 'deep'.
Looks like a genuine dagger, but possibly with the motto etched onto the blade much later ?
I can see this being done to increase the value of an otherwise average SA dagger.
If it is a brown SA scabbard, the hanger ( which looks black to me ) is not correct either.

My take on this is the same as Steve's. An original dagger which has been ruined by the addition of a fake inscription.
