    Good Afternoon,

First off, apologies if this is in the wrong forum, i looked around and figured this was the most appropriate one. I was given this dagger from my dad who got it years ago from his uncle. while looking online, and comparing it to pictures, i am still unsure, on the back part of the blade (not inscription side), there is normally the makers stamp in the blade(?), this one doesn't appear to have any or one that was removed. Please have a look at the pictures below, any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Neil ...what I can drag out from beneath the rust ...which is removable ...and i will get to that process shortly is the producer Friedrich Koch ..aka Friedrichswerk Solingen

    What is this Blade?

This is not a Known SA producer ...but since the dagger has been opened at some point and the blade worn down ....soaking the blade in a container of WD 40 can only help it and will remove the rust.
Im very curious if it is Friedrichswerk.

This producer is only known for Army daggers ...Swords and Bayonets and not SA
You may have an ultra rare blade in your possession.

The rest of the dagger is early and authentic with a black NSKK scabbard....but I cant confirm this blade belonging to this combination and looks more like Ernst Pack or August Merten.

Im also curious of any blade tang markings and also internal crossguard markings that can be cross referenced in finding an identity of a producer.
Let me know your thoughts and my curiousity is piqued

Be nice if it is a rare one. Similar to my NSKK dagger but mine is a Carl Eickhorn. I have read the earlier versions had the grip guards made of solid nickel and later versions were only plated. Father brought it back along with the 98k he found in a building in a town the germans retreated from. Always grateful I recalled the story as the man has since passed.

    Good Evening,

Thanks for the responses, Larry, i have cleaned it up a bit, i will soak it in WD40 shortly, but i did manage to clean up the mark a bit, i think you are correct, upon searching this, i cannot find any info on an SA blade with that stamp. please see the picture below and see if you can make sense of it!

i am unsure what you mean by 'Im also curious of any blade tang markings and also internal crossguard markings that can be cross referenced in finding an identity of a producer.', if i can take pictures to show you this, please let me know what you mean!

it could also be this, looks like there may be an X in the middle (holding up the drum(?)? if so, is this a rare maker?

Well Done Neil and I stand corrected

You found the correct SA producer and yes it is Friedrich August Schmitz and a rare producer .

"Om" is the correct SA district designation Ost Mark
SA Gruppe marks known to Dagger Producers and Manufacturers

No need to open the dagger at all ..the logo and District stamping told the story

If you wish ...you can unscrew the tang nut and let soak the blade only for about 5 days in WD40 and the rest of the rust should come off
    Good work Neil

    Good Afternoon!

Upon further cleaning, i am able to make out something else than i had previously thought, although i cannot find this in the Dagger maker marks list online, does anyone have any idea of this maker? to me it looks like a dog or a man with a mustache but its tough to say.

Also, i have been using Rust remover on the blade for days and it barley makes a difference, any ideas what else this 'dirt' may be and how to remove it?

Thanks in advance for all your help!

    Hello..

As Larry stated this is produced by
    Friedrich August Schmitz...
    They made 3000 sa daggers
And used Ns, Om, Wf as their gau marks.
Here is what your logo would look like..

Many thanks! that is what i originally thought it was as i mentioned above, i guess the way the dirt is coming off it gave a slightly different look. Any ideas of what product to use to clean this off? WD40 Rust Specialist doesn't seem to be doing the trick.

Also, what is a rough monetary value of this piece?
