Default Hello everyone - New member got some questions about digging.

Hi! I am new to the forum, my name is Daniel and i am from Sweden. I am 20 years old, i like cooking, history and i collect different iteems from world war 2. I saw so many cool forum posts here from people who have been digging for world war 2 iteems around the world, and i would also like to start doing this. But since i never done anything like it i have no idea how it works..

It would be so nice if any experiensed "digger" could fill me in on following:
    - What metall detector is best for a rookie digger, where do i order it?
    - What countries is the best to digg in? I am thinking of going to either Tunisia or Ukraine.
    - Is there any laws you have to respect? I know in Sweden you can digg everywhere and walk in all woods, but laws might be different i guess.
    - I am currently in the city of Wilty in Luxembourg to see the battle of the bulge museum and also see the 28:th infantry div. memorial and the Eisenhower memorial, is there anywhere around here you could recommend me digging?
    - Any other tips you could think of!

Thank you, glad to me a new member of this awsome forum.

Hi and welcome to the forum !

Most of your questions are already answered in other threads.

Firstly and most importantly, the thread on the laws for a number of different countries. Make sure you read both pages

    Laws pertaining to Metal Detecting.

...and one specifically about one country...

    Rules and Laws in Estonia

Tunisia I am not sure about so you're best to speak to the consulate before going out there. Be careful though as Tunisia is still swimming in live ordnance and mines. Detecting or searching out there without a local guide is most certainly NOT recommended.

Next a thread with some tips on searching.

    Searching tips

And now a thread with a big discussion about which MD is the best one for relics.

Which metal detector do you use and why?

Finally, there are a number of threads regarding what to go see in Belgium. I would do a search for 'Belgium' and you'll find quite a few.

Have a good look through this forum as there are plenty of other threads that will help you.

    Happy hunting !
