The listing was indeed on craigslist, asking only $200.
I asked for more pictures and ofc didn't recieve a response.
So I'm assuming the scammer would refuse to do business in person and want...
Apparently this helmet is owned by a forum member who's posted it here before and also on USMF. LINK: https://www.warrelics.eu/forum/steel-helmets/picked-up-german-helmet-vet-657453/
Given the...
Apparently DAK helmets were only painted on the outside - oops! Not my pictures unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it! :P )
Probably not, but does the paint on this at least look like it might be original? The swastika obviously isn't, but what's up with the tag on the liner? (which was probably added later since the...
Alas, I did not get it. It wasn't that bad of a price, about $60, but I decided to save my money for something else.
Any thoughts on this? How was the interior so meticulously painted white?
I could always purchase it and display it with a copy of "Catch 22" as a statement piece. :P

IMO I would just leave it as it is. There's no telling when the liner was added in. Surely the helmet must have an interesting story. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the interesting info, James! I took another look, and my example does have "HHD" under the triangle.

I just received this helmet as a gift and am pretty excited to finally have an Iraqi helmet with markings on it. I was wondering if anyone knows what they might mean. In addition to the painted white...
Thanks for the replies, guys! I think I will be leaving it as it is for now. cool militaria
I just received this as a gift, and noticed the blade is very oily to the point of me smudging it when it was touched. I also included pictures of the inside of the scabbard. Is there anything I...
I personally like the resin-encasement idea, this item being so fragile and susceptible to deterioration. I think it's really cool that the fork, clams, and other remnants are there, as it adds a lot...
2015 was a bit of a dry year for me in collecting, so this helmet doesn't have much to compete with! Here's a WW1 Italian m1916 helmet I snagged for under $30. I've read that most were melted down to...
What a great variety you have! Now you just need to complete a mannequin for each one! ;)
Thanks for moving the thread to the correct sub-forum. I'm rather certain the second ribbon is the WW1 honor cross, because of the light-colored line running down the middle of the swords. I think...
I'm posting this photo again because I'm almost done colorizing it and want to make sure I'm doing the ribbons right. The last thread was posted a while ago and the ribbons were not all identified.

Thanks for the warm welcome! That is some interesting information, and yes I did get very lucky with this one. :) I look forward to seeing your examples.

Here are two other examples I've found on the internet. The first one is the Italian-made version, which can be found here: Collectables - Poor Richards' British Gun Shop - Historical Reproductions...
I picked this up for 30 dollars. From the pictures, I thought it was a French m1915 helmet that just looked green from lighting, but was pleasantly surprised to learn otherwise after having it in...
What is the insignia on the brodie helmet? Does the white bar under the shield signify anything, or is it just part of the insignia? Thanks, John
Cool, glad I was able to help!
I believe it is a Czech m26 ammo pouch. I found this website selling them: Used Czech Military Surplus M26 Mag Bag, Khaki - 175384, Mag Pouches at Sportsman's Guide
I can't find any other pictures...
I picked this up at an airshow for $20. I was pretty excited since it has the "Germany" patches and Namensschild/name-tape which are almost impossible to find on these modern Bundeswehr jackets....
Sorry if there's too many pictures.
Here's another example owned by USMilitariaForum's "1canpara." Link: Show Your PASGT!!! - STEEL AND KEVLAR HELMETS - U.S. Militaria Forum
