Great condition Firemans Faschinenmesser! Johann Leupold is only found on firemans plain and sawback models. I have always been told " collect the best examples available and you will never...
I like these old bayonet conversions, turned into trench knives, hunting knives, etc. but, only if they have a lot of age to them, and this one does. I especially like the hand made scabbard.
Jim
Not a sword, absolutely, without a doubt, an 1895 Chilean bayonet. the whole thing is only 14-16 inches long.
Jim
I see it now. It could be a scabbard for an 1871/84 or an early 84/98.

Tough call for me, ersatz bayo's are a special study all themselves. The bayo, without serial numbers or crude repairs, doesn't look like a typical Turk rework. The scabbard looks to have had some...
In my opinion it is a polished up 1928 model, to my knowledge all of the "mobilization" bayonets were all marked 1939. Looks like a proper scabbard and frog though. The reason someone would market...
First off, welcome to the forum! As to your bayonet, it is hard to say when the knuckle bow was added. I would say that it was done in the last 50-60 years though and here is why: What you have ...
It doesn't appear big enough for a 98/05, but it is hard to be 100% certain without anything for scale.
Jim
Good luck, just remember that decent examples can be had in the $50-$75 range, I would stay closer to $50 on this one.
Jim P
I would be happy with the second one.

I don't like the rivets or the long strap, but it does have the appearance of some age to it, maybe an older reproduction? I would find a less questionable example. Nice 84/98, especially with...
The small letters and numbers on the ricasso of your WZ 28 model bayonet are inspector/inspection marks. Some are stamped openly and others are sometimes found inside ovals, squares, triangles and...
While I am not a free appraisal service, I will tell you that you have a fairly uncommon model 1915 "Gottscho" bayonet. While they usually have a fair value, this one has lost most of it due to a...
It is hard for me to say, but that would explain the lack of the fuller. It is hard for me to be certain on a lot of these bayo's , because so many were reworked for/and by other countries. Lets...
One of the many Austrian 1895 models. Strange that there is no fuller. What are the markings on it? I could not expanded the pictures to see any. Austria, Czechoslovakia, Romania, Greece, etc.,...

I clean all the oil off of them with a rag and some degreaser/cleaner like simple green, using a soft tooth brush to get into all the corners. Then I "used' to wipe it down with a good gun oil,...
I can't find anything on it. I do find it kind of odd the way it is marked. Alex, or one of the other guy's may be able to help you. Wouldn't mind seeing the whole bayonet.
Jim
A nice example of an 84/98 bayonet, even if mismatched. Always nice to have an original frog to complete the set. Is this your first 84/98 or just another one added to the collection?

Grip emblems are pretty controversial, because it is to easy to jazz up a plan jane ks98 with the emblem off a stick pin or the like. There are a few styles and types that are widely accepted,...
The obverse (front) side will have the domed side of the rivet, because it looks nicer. The reverse will almost always be flat, though that was subjective to how the manufactures press was set up or...
The grip rivets look nice and untouched. I would say the only way that you would know for sure, is to pack to the dentist next time you go and see if they will take an x-ray. If both pins are bent...
Nice little project! Will the replacement forearm need much inleting?
Jim
Agreed, I would like a second opinion as well! The 1st set of pictures looked promising, not anything obviously wrong with it, except for the border above the rifles. Thing is, I've seen etched...
