Hi Willi, look for the "saw tooth edge" to the weave of the edging bands. Sometimes this is lacking but other times not. Check the smooth feel of rayon as opposed to the rougher feel of polyester. In...

Hi William, the photos are dreadful to try and pick out the details I describe in the article.

However, there is one aspect which condemns this one as fake with ease. Note the "crossbar" to the...

I thought that I would bump up my old thread with the addition of these pics of this Theodore Eicke cuff title. It has been artificially aged.

Once again, this is a fake. Note the edging to the...

    Hi Al, welcome!

Glad you have asked before parting with hard earned cash. These are all bad.

The "Bevo" style ones are the book mark fakes from the 1970's.

The "HJ" Div title is bad too.

  6. Sticky: Re: "BeVo" SS cuff titles: how to spot original from fake

Yes, please start a new thread. Sounds interesting.

We have some good threads on "must see" places to visit in Europe. Checkout the "After the Battle" forum.

    Cheers, Ade.
  7. Sticky: Re: "BeVo" SS cuff titles: how to spot original from fake

This is NOT a "Bevo" machine woven cuff title. This is an RZM pattern and is fake.

    Cheers, Ade.
  8. Sticky: Re: "BeVo" SS cuff titles: how to spot original from fake

Original again, but here the weave is tighter so the "sawtooth edge" is not quite so apparent, but is still there.

No member of the forum should ever buy a fake again once they have read this...
  9. Sticky: Re: "BeVo" SS cuff titles: how to spot original from fake

An original once again with the "Sawtooth edge"
  10. Sticky: Re: "BeVo" SS cuff titles: how to spot original from fake

OK> Now you have all read this thread and know how to spot a good Bevo title :)

But just to end, here is a comparison between a good original and a fake of the SS Polizie cuff title. Look at the...
  11. Sticky: Re: "BeVo" SS cuff titles: how to spot original from fake

A shameless bump for this thread as folks keep missing it. But I have added another period advert for the company.

    Cheers, Ade.
  12. Sticky: Re: "BeVo" SS cuff titles: how to spot original from fake

Original thread will burn away to ash: modern synthetic thread will burn to a hard little plastic ball.

    Cheers, Ade.
  13. Sticky: Re: "BeVo" SS cuff titles: how to spot original from fake

The bookmark type can be seen clearly in post number 14.

The blacklight is a Ultra Violet light: when shone over some fakes the white /grey parts of the weave will glow a bright neon blue white....
  14. Sticky: Re: "BeVo" SS cuff titles: how to spot original from fake

These are all bad. These are the "bookmark" type fake I talk about and illustrate in post 2.

The RZM pattern title is bad too.

The RZM labels are bad as well. Easy to spot as they only have...
  15. Sticky: Re: "BeVo" SS cuff titles: how to spot original from fake

Thanks Guys for the kind comments.

If this thread prevents just one person from getting burned buying a fake title, I will be happy.

I will try and do some other similar threads in the future....
  16. Sticky: Re: "BeVo" SS cuff titles: how to spot original from fake

A third fake "Bevo" title. Again the edge weave is wrong. I am sure you can all see this now ;)

The Germania is another fake with a completely wrong reverse weave.

    I hope this helps?

    Cheers,...
  17. Sticky: re: "BeVo" SS cuff titles: how to spot original from fake

Now compare these two fakes. The first is modern production fake which have a series of dots and longer, taller, dashes which are very uneven in size which appear to look like this:

  18. Sticky: "BeVo" SS cuff titles: how to spot original from fake

Hi Guys, as this question comes up very often, I thought it would be useful to place a pinned thread on the subject?

The key to determining an original from a fake, like so many other German...
