Soviet Overcoat?

I picked up this Soviet Overcoat at a flea market a couple days ago. I know nothing about Soviet jackets but I thought it was cool so decided to buy it. Does anyone know what rank of officer would wear this, and what date or era it's from? Thanks!

Looks Soviet to me, friend...1980s....I have an East German Overcoat...But it's never cold enough to wear it, lol...

Yes, a typical postwar, perhaps 80's, shinel with the rank of lieutenant colonel (podpolkovnik) of Mechanized Troops.

I just noticed that there is a '72' on the back of every button on the coat, so I'm assuming it's from the 70's.
