Today I have received a nice MK IV with its original dark colouring. The liner has seen some use and the chinstrap has took some battering. CCL III 1944, although dated war period, did these particular helmets see any action during WW2 or post?

Some pictures may help with the history of this helmet. Nice clear shots from various angles.

... and yes the Mk IV turtle was actually used in WW2 all the way up to the mid '80's.
"Per Ardua"
Thank you for confirming.
I've never believed the Mk4 actually saw service during WW2. It maybe have got to a war zone such as the far east, where actually it was designed for, but not to the troops who actually fought.
Here is the said helmet
A nice example, I think all the Mk3 liners I've seen, have been 1945 dated.Chin strap is an Mk4.
