I made a thread about this (and a few other) tunics/waffenrocks a few weeks ago and finally purchased and received this one! I bought it off of Grenadier Auctions and just got it today. I honestly know little about German tunics and waffenrocks, but it looks good to me; however, now that I received it personally and can upload my own pictures I just wanted to get additional input on it Any and all opinions are much appreciated, thanks!

Here's the underside of the collar as I believe the stitching is important (but I believe it is stitched correctly)

Also forgot about this tag in the inside pocket. I wasn't able to get a good picture of it myself so this is from the auction site. If anyone could make out what it says that would be awesome as it appears nearly impossible to read to me haha

You can rest easy, this is a very nice original and unmessed with waffenrock. Nice purchase!

    It says:

    "Herr Oberfähnrich Christiansen

Awesome, thanks so much for the information! I'm assuming Oberfahnrich is a rank? Google translate said it meant "chief of staff"?

Forget online translators. "Chief of staff" is totally wrong.... Oberfähnrich was the highest of the officer candidate ranks. They were:

    • Fahnenjunker [equivalent to the basic-level Soldat, Schütze etc.]
    • Fahnenjunkergefreiter [equivalent to Gefreiter]
    • Fahnenjunkerunteroffizier [equivalent to Unteroffizier]
    • Fähnrich [equivalent to Unterfeldwebel]
    • Oberfähnrich [equivalent to Oberfeldwebel]

The owner acquired this Waffenrock when he was still an Oberfähnrich. He was later commissioned as a Leutnant and then promoted to Oberleutnant, the rank worn on the tunic.
