M35 German Helmet Chickenwire Original?

No chance that chicken wire has been on that helmet since 1945, or earlier. Even galvanized wire will rust where the zinc is rubbed off through normal use. The contact areas where the wire is crimped to rim of the helmet would be an obvious area to see corrosion. Like wise rust in the wire twists and where the wire touches the dome we would expect some corrosion. But there is nothing, it looks like it could have been attached last week, some powdery dirt or grime has been rubbed in to mimic patina, but it doesn't.
