What the Heck is This? Waffen SS Gebirgsjäger Box?

Hey all,

saw this, have no clue what it might be.. looks like a gebirgsjäger's jewelry box.

Can anyone identify it?

Konditorei means cake shop!

So perhaps the box was intended for cake and cookies!

Registrierte schutzmarke simply means = registered trade mark..

...And (needless to say) those are not "SS" runes on the logo to begin with, and the Edelweiß- and Enzian flowers are typical, super-common decorative elements in the Alpine regions of Germany and Austria and not indicative of any mountain troops connection.

However, there may well be an indirect SS connection here after all:

Note that the original name of the business has been covered by that big "HIEBL" label. I dug around a bit and found that there once was a Konditorei-Café Schindler in Innsbruck, which was owned by two Jewish brothers named Hugo and Erich Schindler. The business was "aryanized" and taken over by the Austrian Nazi, Blood Order holder and SS officer Franz Hiebl in 1938. If the name underneath the label is "Schindler", the box is from this business.

There is no SS logo. This is a registered corporate logo coincidentally including a stylized double "S" - in a totally different shape than the SS runes - in its design. The letters may well stand for the former owners "Schindler & Schindler"; note that the logo is on the lid itself, not the subsequently applied label.
