As for armbands I think that timing is a factor with them, on good terms with Hitler and the NSDAP, in 1933 Hitler authorized the Bahnschutz to wear NSDAP badges and insignia on their uniforms - to include the party armband. More to the main point here, in Russia the Heeres Feldbahn was responsible for transport to the front, with the Reichsbahn involved with the great bulk of transport behind the lines with the Bahnschutz both accompanying the trains, and patrolling some of the major terminals. The Feldeisenbahner who were professional railroad personnel drawn from the ranks of the German Railway system assigned to the Army/Wehrmacht, not the W-SS. To assist further research the title of the March 1, 1944 document is stated to be: “Anlaß des Reichministers des Innern und des Reichsverkehrsministeriums”. Best Regards, Fred

Regardless, it was about the combatant status. This was - at least officially - "loaned" by wearing the appropriate bracelets to members of the Reichsbahn.

Short back to the beginning. Here's an SS Bayonet from the early days. It is a S84 / 98n.A. from the 1st World War. Only blued without markings of the Reichswehr or the Police. Enclosed a carrier photo. Frog with manufacturer from 1936. This manufacturer is also available from 1935.

An interesting photo with most probably a recycled bayonet and frog. The holster is also interesting because it seems to be a different color (not black) and more of a revolver type. The Germans were not particularly prone to discard items that still had some useful life in them. Here is a multi-generational S.84/98 that has evidence of that, combining parts from different generations before its last final overhaul - and then reissued once again showing some of the typical wear that many service bayonets exhibit. Hi,

yes the S84 / 98n.A. from the WW1 had a long life. Not least because Unmegen were produced until 1918. They were worn until at least 1945 and partly in the GDR much longer.

Such a pistol grip can be found in the German German Reich Revolver M1883 and some civil / privately purchased models.

Yes, it does look like it could be a M1883 revolver with the lanyard ring removed from the bottom of the grip. A reliable weapon, but not that efficient to use as compared to what they used later on. Best Regards, Fred
