I agree with all the above - without clear pictures of the blade, blade tip, and tang (nakago) - it is impossible to tell you much about this. There are late-war swords that have this look. There are occupied island blades that have this look, there are legit war gunto with post-war re-wrapped handles (tsuka). There are a few options, but we need to see that blade & tang to tell you more.

Like I said- at least pictures of the full tang (all hardware removed). Clear closeups of the blade tip and a section of the blade body would help too.
