May I ask about the KM marking.
I take it these would be for the different Naval area's. Is that correct?
Are they KM detachment marking?
Is there a listing of the Naval makings somewhere to tell who is who?

Besides the bayonets KM markings are also found on rifles and pistols with (I believe AndyB is tracking the bayonets) the "O" for Ostsee, and the "N" for Nordsee. The individual detachments and/or ships most probably using the numerical inventory/property markings. A KM marked frog also used, the practice of using KM markings (as seen with the Luftwaffe markings) was discontinued early in the war. That said, probably around the time that the "Atlantic Wall" was being created a lesser more simplified KM marking is sometimes seen on some pistols and possibly other items. Best Regards, Fred
Thank you for the answer's Fred.

The main designation is Ostsee and Nordsee area, O. or N. prefix, the reason is mostly a inventory stamping of equipment, offcoarse on rifles kar98k, and same on bayonets, it was found on optics and all other KM equipment. b.r.Andy
Here is a KM bayonet I have, came as a set with KM marked belt and buckle. A matching 1940 Herder with the KM stamp on the frog.
Great KM Bayo Gents
@ Weller ...thankyou for contributing your bayo which adds to this thread.
Later the Bayo Gents would like to see your bayo with more photo and a separate thread would be welcome ...if you had not already had one in started prior.

A very nice one Weller.
The bayonet when not having the Inventory KM marking, could be hard to designate as KM only on frog, as the frog is KM marked, but the bayonet could be changed in time. b.r.Andy
PS prior this time i couldnt confirm one KM marked F.Herder 40 piece.
