I'm curious why he would not send you the one you purchased?
That pile up of thread is due to the tension on the upper thread not being correct, and not pulling the bottom thread half way up into the material.
This causes a "ball up", I know.

I'd like to know why I didn't get the one I ordered as well but I figured i'd take the hit since Bill + Pat have treated me well over the last year. As long as it's original, I'm okay with it and it appears to be so as far as I can tell.

But yes, it is an odd occurence. First time I have been sent the wrong item and I have ordered at least 30 items from them. My guess is they have stock pile of these tropical insignias and I just happened to get a different rank. I know Bill tends to buy up smalls in large quantity when he has the chance.
