    Question Prussian Mod 1871 sword / bayonet with scabbard

    Greetings fellow collectors,

    Been a couple of years, if not more, since I posted something, so, glad to be back.
    I am about to purchase this piece from a tradesman in my country, and would like to ask you guys for some help in identifying if it is a worthy piece or not.
    Studying the clips from " Imperial German Bayonets " youtube channel, and searching around online, I still haven't found conclusive information about it.

    What I know so far : the only marking is the unit serial on the hand guard;
    The scabbard does not feature any markings;
    It is Not mountable on a rifle;
    Asking price, around 160 euro.

    Please ignore that god awful leather frog! Pictures below:

    What say you ?

    All the best!

    It appears to be the "dress" or parade version, but could be a Prussian model 1860. It does have a regiment and accountability number so not private purchase.
    Combat bayonets are generally more valuable than parade versions, but the price asked seems reasonable.

    Thanks for answering. So it could be an 1860 model. I've only looked around for 1871.
    Any Idea on why it does not feature the hole in the hand guard for the barrel mounting ? That is the detail that made me unconfortable.

    A dress or "walking out" bayonet is never intended to be fitted to a rifle. It is always worn only on a belt, so mortice slot and catch are not needed. It is an authentic piece.
