As fake as it gets. Everything about it is trash.

No. Not even close to an original shell. All bad.

"Everything" being the key word here.

I would be careful about anything else this seller has if he is trying to pass this off as real.
"Please", Thank You" and proper manners appreciated

I can understand your asking and it is good that you did.

It is difficult to explain but before even considering the physical points the initial impression from the very first unexpanded picture is one of "WRONG". The dark patches of discolouration on the outside for instance look totally un-natural.

Research is key and especially important is to see originals "in the flesh" as it were. Even better if you can get to handle originals. Like so many things, once you know what to look for you will soon recognise "Fish fur" at a single glance.

    Again, well done for asking!

    Regards

    Kaikun2001,

When I started collection I always got the advise to buy some good reference books to do the research and get familiar with the characteristics of helmets, equipment, uniforms, etc. I think there are good books for every time period and army. For instance if you check out Michael Baldwin Feldzug series you will see in part -1918- that the M1918 ear-cutout looks completely different from the Chinese copy you posted.

Good books are a good investment for research, spotting fakes and enjoyment. I think that members are more then willing to advise you on books to buy. There are even members who wrote books. Check out the classified section.

    Cheers Paul

Thank you for all the advice, I will buy reference books to get more educated as I am very new to collecting millitary helmets.

    Best regards Kai
