Walter Hermann Erich Jahns was born on the 4th of April 1915 in Helmstadt Lelm, which is a municipality in Germany's second largest state, Lower Saxony which is located in the administrative district of Helmstedt. He was trained as a Bäcker (baker), his religion is noted as ev luth = evangelisch lutherisch (Evangelical Lutheran/Protestant) and he was ledig (single). He swore his oath on the 10th of April 1933 and it appears he swore another on the 2nd of August 1934.
The town of Wolfenbüttel is located on the Oker in the district of the same name in Lower Saxony. The city is located about 12km south of Braunschweig, about 60 km east-southeast of the state capital Hanover and immediately east-northeast of Salzgitter. The city was already a garrison town in the 16th century. In 1557 there were already 122 guns in the armory. In 1803 the old fortifications were demolished. In their place, parks and tree-covered ramparts were built around the city. Until 1914, parts of the Artillerie Regiment 46 were based in the city. In 1920, Wolfenbüttel became a garrison town for the Reichswehr. It was occupied by the 7th and 9th batteries of the Artillerie Regiment 6. On October 1, 1933, the 7th batterie was transferred to Hanover. On April 1, 1935, the 9th batterie became the I./Flak-Regiment 7.

I suspect that this designation is a cover for the formation of a Flak Regiment.

The (o) stands for ortsfest (stationary), an abbreviation introduced in 1943 and often found attached to late-war flak unit designations. Very nice research and a beautiful Wehrpaß, thanks a lot for sharing!
