It’s full of platitudes about honour.
It’s full of platitudes about honour.
Hi there.
This is what I have come up with -
Ich verleihe Ihren den Degen der SS.
Ziehen Sie ihn niemals ohne Not!
I award you the sword of the SS.
Never pull it without need!
Put it in without honour!
Protect your own honour just as unconditionally as you respect the honour of others and chivalrously stand up for the defenseless!
This sword shall remain in the possession of your clan if you have carried it blamelessly throughout your life. If you left the SS before then, it will revert to the Reichsführer SS.
Do not forget for a moment how much trust Adolf Hitler's Schutzstaffel has placed in you by awarding you this weapon, always remain the same in good and bad days!
Carry the sword with honour!
Kind regards,
Will.

Perfect Will as expected ...as I have read similar dedications In Tom Wittmanns SS book on the seriousness of honor of the SS dagger and Sword.
I dont where the monkey thing came from

Hi Larry,
Is there anyway to get some better opinions on the Himmler signature stamp on the bottom of the document by chance? I've gained alot of info from this posting but still looking to see if that part looks good. Kind regards!
Ben
This one is very similar to yours except it was awarded two years prior from Berlin. The signature is very reminiscent as well, with the swooping -r at the end. Either the photo is too pixelated or the signature faded to have the best look but it still appears to be hand signed. That is overlapping lines, and varying applications of ink and pressure. Signatures really are an aspect to physically inspect as compared to looking at an image of it.
The auction listing states it is a stamped signature but I can't tell if as it looks more like a signature to me also with varying applications of ink and pressure like you said. Thanks for referencing your letter to compare. What kind of document is yours and do you have the translation for your letter?
Thanks again Will!
