Default Geheime Feldpolizei (GFP) / Gestapo set

This Wehrpass belonged to a Gestapo official who served a brief attachment to the GFP.

The Wehrpass photo isn't the original, but it IS the same guy ( signed on the back) and came out of some other Ausweis. I just laid it in place in the page to show what he looked like.

As we can see, his service with the GFP was in occupied France, perhaps involved in combatting French resistance activities.

We can see that when he was released from his attachment to the GFP, he was returned to the "Chef der Sicherheitspolizie und SD" (Reinhard Heydrich).

At some point he was in a US controlled internment camp. Again we see when he was released by the US Third Army stating he was a "Member of the Gestapo"

Interestingly, in 1948, he was contacted by the French War Crimes Commission. They were trying to track down an SS-Obersturmführer Dreschler from the Das Reich Division and wanted a photo of Dreschler presumably to establish he wasn't the same guy and eliminate him from their enquiries.

I often wonder what the other Dreschler had done that the War Crimes people were after him !

You have some outstanding groupings, thank you very much for sharing them wish us. Fascinating! I bet this guy was looking over his shoulder for years after the war was over. I've never heard about much activity by the French War Crimes Commission. Bad luck for him.

    Very interesting Redcap.
Not the best curriculum vitae for the post 1945 world though.
