    Hi Franz, you are reading it incorrectly. Look at the word again. You will see the letter "g" in the gewehr element of the word. The letter at the start of the word is different and is actually an "s". So it reads "Bayonet" in German. The same box is also used to record if a sword was issued.

    Many Anglo/Americans get confused with German script letter "s". They can appear to look like either a g or an f.

    Any chance we can see a close up of the photo (including the stamps) and some good photos of Pages 2-4, 17 & any pages showing awards please?

    yes , will do. I don think he was in combat,but will see. I don't got the time right now. After getting my first soldbuch, i think i might want more

    Oh yes - welcome to a very interesting side of the hobby. It is great when you can unlock the history in these passes.

    What does it look like he did? What page is the awards? it 1st pattern soldbuch i think, it has the glued in paper of issued items.

    The soldbuch was issued in 1940 and he was assigned to construction battalions. None of the photos show any award entries but judging by the picture on the inside front cover he is wearing a WW1 Wound Badge In Black on his pocket and his ribbon bar looks to consist of a WW1 Iron Cross 2nd Class, Honour Cross For Frontline 'Fighters' (a 1934 issued medal to honour WW1 soldiers), Sudetenland Medal and an unknown one.

    The main construction battalion he was assigned to was Bau-Batallion 125 and here is some information on it...

    I have 57 Soldbucher (but soon to be 58 and possibly 59), 78 Wehrpasses and 301 Award/Promotion Citations (possibly soon to be 306).
