Hi,
Would love to understand these papers...can someone here try and make sense of them?
Thanks.
Hi,

It's a plea for an SS-member to be maried and these papers are to prove the racial purity of his fiancé.
Funny, in the last paper he claims that his fiancé was unfaithful to him while he was in service and so the former letter is to be rejected.
That's life for ya.
Jean
Thanks.
The September 24, 1942 letter at Hohenlychen, was that his serving location or recovering at hospital location?
I don't know, the letter was written at the Laz(arett), but can not determine from the letter if he was a patient or if he was stationed there.
His intention to mary was cancelled because of serious religious incompatibilities that clashed with his beliefs as a SS-man.
True or an excuse, we don't know.
Jean
Thanks Jean.
These documents are connected to this soldbuch, maybe we understand them more with this scans?
Huddy
He started in the 2nd company for training postal pigeons, then to the Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler, then the field hospital mentioned above, then he was put in reserve and finaly back to the pigeons where he came from.
From 1 june till 11 june 1940 in the field hospital at Offenbach for a gun shot wound in the left upperarm and from 11 june 1940 till 4 july 1940 in another field hospital probably to recover.
Jean
From what I thought he started in the SS LAH and ended up in the pigeon unit, maybe because of his past wounds could not serve regularly?
It should be noted that the paperwork refers to two different ladies:
First, Mr. Drews intended to marry a Ms. Margarete Wenzlaff in 1939 but notified the authorities in 1940 that he has terminated the relationship as she had been unfaithful to him while he was on active military service.
He then wanted to marry a Ms. Kläre Ommler in 1942 and informed the authorities in the same year that he had decided otherwise due to serious religious incompatibilities between them that made it impossible for him as an SS Man to marry that woman.
(Fittingly, the paperwork states that he had declared himself "gottgläubig" - meaning that he had left the church, while his wife was a Catholic.)
As for the sequence of his military service assignments:
Indeed, he started out with the Replacement Battalion of the Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler, was then transferred to 10./SS "Westland", then moved through the Hohenlychen Military Hospital and the Waffen-SS Medical Replacement Battalion before ending up at the Waffen-SS Training and Testing Detachment for Carrier Pigeons.
