Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader
House Carles at the Battle of Hastings
what are the vaule..to cool.
It would depend on what units he served in & awards he won but going from the above images I'd say a realistic price is around £250-300.
I've just seen the feldpost Number on the stamp on Pg 3 and it belongs to
(24.8.1943-5.4.1944) 3.2.1944 Stab I u. 1.-5. Kompanie Panzergrenadier-Regiment 1 (1. SS-Division),
(6.4.1944-9.11.1944) 31.7.1944 Stab u. 1.-4. Kompanie Panzergrenadier-Regiment 1 (1. SS-Division).
but the entry below the one for LAH on that page is dated 5th Sept 1944 and is for a SS Replacement unit. An image of the units page would be of help.
This is a really interesting soldbuch. The poor kid died when he was 19, several weeks after the war's end. It really brings the horrors of war to light when something like this turns up.
The date for his death is 6th January 1945. Nice that you can see the LAH slip on cyphers on his shoulder boards in the photo.
Nevermind, my American self read that as being June 1st. haha
Still, it's very tragic that he was so young, and so close to the end of the war.
