Hi,
Another example of an ausweis used, but this is very very similar to ones posted by Ade, also an SS ausweis, though what unit is not clear, think it might have been a SS-VT ...
Neil.

A moment in time and a picture of a persom whom could have done horrible things.
How true.
Hi Neil, it is a nice card.
His unit was SS Artillery Replacement unit, SS VT.
Cheers, Ade.
Hi Ade,
Many thanks. May I ask you? is it possible to trace his units accounts?
Thanks,
Neil.
The unit was simply a replacement and training unit where men came initially and were then posted to combat formations.
Forum member Rob has one of these to the same unit.
Cheers, Ade.
Hi,
Same unit also SS-VT? small world indeed.
Thanks,
Neil.
Thanks Ade.
Rgrds,
Neil.
Was this unit a temporary unit thus he ended up in another SS unit? so this would be a temporary SS ausweis?
Neil.
Hi Neil, when a man joined the German armed forces, including the SS-VT (which was later renamed as the Waffen SS) they would have been posted to a training and replacemen unit. From there they would have been posted into a regualr numbered front line unit.
The Ausweis was not a temporary one.
Cheers, Ade.
