Lots of views, no comments ???
Am I right in thinking this guys first posting was 1./Ersatz SS-Deutschland in 43, I thought it was Das Reich by then ?
Well I'm not too good on German handwriting whether written today or years ago but this is what it looks like to me:
1/E (Ersatz?) SS Pz. Gren. Bn. Deutschland. Don't know what the other two words are.
He was bedingt tauglich or had limited suitability, probably not A1 fit. And he was a driver.
If someone can translate the meaning of Ausgehoben fuer die Waffen-SS.
Thanks Tony, all information appreciated
All the best
That is no contradiction. "Deutschland" was one regiment of the division "Das Reich".
It says "1./E. SS-Pz. Gren.Ers.Btl. 'Deutschland' Prag-Rusin".
The unit was garrisoned in the SS barracks at the Rusin (Ruzyně) district of Prague (Praha).
"Called up for service with the Waffen-SS"
Great, thank you HPL, much appreciated ! SS items are not my area sorry
So he was conscripted into the Waffen SS, was that normal ?
All the best, happy Juletide !!
Any chance of a glance at the Soldbuch I posted
Thanks for all the advice
These are really my thing so to speak, I am going to put it on the Sales Section
Does this make sense:
- 1./Ersatz SS-Deutschland
- SS-Kraftfahrschule Krakau
- III. Bataillon SS-Polizeidivison - 9. Kompanie
- SS-Korps Nachschubregiment 5 - Stabskompanie
- 3. Kompanie / SS-Korps Nachschubregiment 105
- SS-Korps Nachschubregiment 105 - Werkstattkompanie
Any more information on these please ?
