Article about: I believe that it is missing the glass ink bottle insert, though, so you may want to hunt around and see if you can find one to fit it. I've seen German spiked helmet inkwells like this, but

    You know, that's kinda cool, though it doesn't look like it would hold the ink terribly well.

    Have you tried it out using water?

    Looks like a French helmet with added badge, but of course other soldiers than French used the French lids - Winston Churchill for one.
    Interesting artifact - thanks for sharing.

    Russia did produce this very pattern of helmet with their insignia in 1916-1917.

    Looks like very interesting! Russia used the same style helmets as the French in WWI.
