Thanks, I'll try to get better photos of the markings.
The very shallow scabbard decoration is interesting and there is no lock mechanism. Is this the first pattern of this dagger?
This is the pattern of 1943r - No lock until 1948r if I recall correctly...
The scabbard decoration I would think is normal for this first try. I suppose the first recipients of these were higher-ups and/or were privileged. They probably spent more time polishing into oblivion the weak engravings of their Военно-Морской Кортик than the scuffs on their boots ...
I am proud to show mine, not marked ZIK (but made by whom? Dim? ) with it's original "under the skirt" belt... Would not the Fascist Invaders of the Kriegsmarine be flattered?
Non nobis, Domine, non nobis, sed nomini tuo da gloriam!
Hi guys
I've always wonderd if the soviets copied the design of the hangers from their German Kriegsmarine 'colleagues'?

To me the metal parts of the hanger ware not made by the same factory as the one who made the dagger.
However I like the lion's head, it is a patern I do not recognize immediatly.
The S shapped buckle could be Belgian. But thise a rather commun attribute in Europe at the 19th century. Could even be Imperial Russia.
If it is of any intrest to some one. I do still have a die very similar or even similar; to make the "S" shapped buckel, as on the picture. If you like some pictures I'll be glad to do so, it only could take a while as I do not know where I put it.
