Hi Frenchy, it is Russian! A Red Navy officers pilotka, I think?

Size 57, made in Moscow in 1941.

    Cheers, Ade.

Hi Frenchy, that was a real bargain!

It should have a wreath in gold with an Anchor plus the Red Star as a cap badge. Sorry I don't have a pic to show.

I am sure Dimas will have one to show you. I am moving the thread to the Soviet section now.

    Cheers, Ade.
    Hello Ade
Is it the badge you mention on your post ? and is it something hard to find or costly ? i am thinking of an original one .

Hi Frenchy, that is the type of badge I was thinking of. But my knowledge of Naval items is very very limited. I do not collect it.

    Cheers, Ade.

Shown here are the 30s - early 40s type that IMO would go with your pilotka:

One is silk thread, the other metallic and it's anchor is missing it's chain.

Note that the star is separate from the roundel and anchor.

These are extremely tough to find. However, I bet Dimas has a few more than I...

These are model of 1943, but are IMO - 50s manufacture.

They are relatively easy to find, and may do for the time being until you find an original type...

The third is for "Main starshiny" and "sergeant" - literal translation - which I think wore these types of pilotkas also... This one also, IMO, is 50s made.
