    Nice buckle Max, and like you stated a very hard buckle to come by, another "Hens teeth" buckle lol

    Hello Max

    Indeed, quite a rare SS buckle.

    It is an early SS buckle which is still the subject of debate as to whom the maker was and perhaps if Jean-Pierre passes by this thread, he could add his comments.

    Attached are images of the one that I hold, although in comparison to yours, quite dreadful as an earth excavated example.

    Comparing the two, I think that the strike and the closing of the box is the same. Note the small rectangular shape between the eagles legs, the shadow under the eagles right wing (facing) and of course, the large box ears.

    Our buckles differ by the pin shroud and claw arrangement, although there are known examples of this buckle with a totally different type of catch.

    A rare SS and no wonder that it is the highlight of your collection.
