Perce has already answered the question.

The regulation SS officers' buckle tended to open when the wearer bent forward. Hence, many W-SS officers preferred the more practical and secure army-style twin-claw buckle. You can see it in wear in many period photographs.

(I remember having read somewhere that there was even a request for a new-model SS officers' buckle to be introduced, which was rejected, apparently not least because the basic design for the circular SS officers' buckle had come from Hitler himself.)

Andreas is quite correct this was a common practice amonst Waffen SS Officers to wear Heer Officers belts both in the Field and in the rear areas.

Many Contemporary photos show them in wear even on Official occasions , Award ceremonies , parades etc !
