    Hi all.

I'd like to get some thoughts on this steel (magnetic) SS buckle. The inside has some resin all over it, but I cannot find a maker's mark anywhere, unless it is beneath the resin. Any opinions on the originality and/or maker of this buckle would be appreciated.

Hello Dynzer. I think an original Overhoff SS buckle. Heavily, heavily cleaned. I'm not sure of what the substance is on the back. Cosmoline maybe? Best regards.

It appears the buckle was once glued into a display. Not uncommon to find TR era items with glue on the back. NH

I think you're absolutely on the money Neil. I bought several items from the same seller (father was a vet) and several pieces were indeed in a display (glued). I'll probably try acetone or another product on the back to at least remove that caked on glue. If you have any other ideas that are less chemically harsh I'm open to ideas.
