Hi guys, at the moment I am looking at the early beginnings of the Freikorp/SA/SS learning about time lines of when each was formed and trying to make sense of when the relevant buckles where introduced. I have just received this book about the "Allgemeine SS" by Robin Lumsden (many thanks Robin if you read this post) and inside is a wonderful picture of what looks like a early standard party wearing a hoch poch of uniforms and belt buckles. Look at the guy on the right and what he is wearing!!!!! Fantastic

In another book of Robin's the photo is dated as 1925 , i wonder where those strange caps with the massive eagles are now !!

Nick, I have always thought these as sympathizers or supporters buckles, have a look at this thread on these buckles that David did, he knows more about these than me, I just find it interesting to find a early picture of SS members wearing this buckle, goes very nicely with my study at the moment

There are a few period images of the full face swastika buckle in wear, although the one that you have shown is really my favourite.

I was always under the impression that the little chap on the viewers right (clearly wearing the buckle in question), is none other than Josef "Sepp" Dietrich.

Great pic! The headgear is something too that I've never seen before! Must be early for sure. That does look like Sepp doesn't it!
    Thanks for posting it!
