The Fat Eagle buckle is good, but I have doubts with the 36/40, I don't like the very light peebled front of the buckle

I am in complete agreement with Ivan Joaquin.

No problems whatsoever with the so called "fat eagle" SS. Original.

The 36/40 SS is however very strange. Not at all happy about the obverse colour, certain aspects of obverse detail and signs of possible cast bubbling to the reverse. Without detailed straight on and natural light digital images of both the obverse and reverse, for myself at least, somewhat difficult to gauge. A very strange buckle though and certainly when compared to some of the well documented cast 36/40 fakes.

For me I like them both to be honest, the fat eagle SS is a lovely buckle, Ivan has great knowledge on SS buckles but looking at the second pics I cannot see any cast flaws, the prong sleeve is correct as are the prongs so if fake it would have fooled me to be honest

Yes Ben, I like the reverse of the buckle but compare the front with my SS 36/40 double ring buckle
