Look what happened with this buckle in a very short time, stored in very good conditions. Some say it is a painted brown zinc copy. Is it possible?

The buckle is ground dug original, look at the markings, the ears and catch, whoever is telling you its fake does not know what they are talking about, ask them to come here and explain why its fake!!!

That is an interesting development.
So the buckle started out with an even patina of oxidisation and now it has lost the rust from the edges which looks to have stripped back to etched bare metal.
Do you live in an area subject to acid rain? It looks as though the edges have been treated with jenolite or another similar chemical
Some close ups similar to the ones that started the thread would be good.

The buckle was not treated with any chemicals, it is stored at all times behind a glass with many more buckles and badges. I have no idea what is happening. It looks like my buckle was eaten by something :/
Should I try to remove it or just leave it?
