Default SS buckle find at yard sale

I found this buckle in a box of boy scout stuff at a yard sale back in October. I don't know much about ss buckles other than they are heavily faked. The first thing that I noticed was the odd maker mark on the back. The front has been taken down to bare steel and has some light pitting. The back still has paint on it, but has been taken down to bare steel around the makers mark. I'm pretty sure it's a fake, but, I would like to get some opinions from some of our expert forum members. Even if it is a fake, I think it was worth the $5.00 it cost me. If it turns out to be authentic, I'll go back and give the guy a few more bucks, lol. Thanks in advance, Rob.SS buckle find at yard saleSS buckle find at yard sale

Hell, for 5 bucks it's worth the risk. If it had been real you could have made a killing reselling it. Too bad. This is why I never pass up a yard sale (time permitting). You just never know what's in the junk boxes.

You could probably sell it to a reenactor for more than $5!

Even for a fake, I think $5.00 was a fair deal. If it was $10.00 I would have passed. I don't feel like I got beat. Yeah, if it had been real, that would have been cool. I've found lots of great items at yard sales over the years. Thanks gents, Rob.
