The preservation in sand is very good Maris as it is in the blue clay !!

Wonderful condition for ground found, though as Paul posted, preservation in sand can be fantastic and I remember excavating within a Roman town in S.Wales and seeing a Fibula found by the person digging next to me in a patch of sand and it was in perfect condition with a lovely patina and all its enamel inlays surviving.
    Regards,

    Whatever its just an opinion.

I must admit, for a ground dug buckle that is in fantastic condition and a good example to show a Assmann green SS buckle, thanks for showing it, can you also post this in the buckle thread as an example please?

    Thanks
    Ben
