Larry thanks for your explanation and comment about the hanger.
Your comment suprises me because I bought this dagger by Mr. Wittmann.
Because there was no hanger attached to the dagger I asked Mr. Wittmann if has a Original SS hanger which would fit to the dagger. So Mr. Wittmann send me this hanger togheter with the dagger, so I am pretty sure that this hanger is correct.
If you can't trust a well respected dealer as Mr. Wittmann, who can you trust than.
I shall made a couple of extra pictures today.

    Thanks,
    Ron

Hi Ron Like I said..I dont mind to be proven wrong....if I feel an item may be questionable..remember this is YOUR Money and we are all human...everyone makes mistakes...myself including dealers. I would find it encouraging for others reading this including other dealers and seasoned collectors..to add their knowledge into this hanger...I dont want to be the last stop on the fate of this hanger...I just asked for photos. This hanger construction IMO does not fit what is normally seen..and since it is from an obscure maker....sometimes things need to be looked at twice..since it may be a FIRST time to view.... this is what discussions are for.

Also lets separate..a point that Tom Wittmanns Integrity and reputability are NOT being called to account in this thread. Regards Larry

as I stated above the dagger is lovely.

Compared to a SA hanger of the same producer, i think it stands a good chance of being genuine.
paint easily comes of the leather, and snap is identical imo.

Now this is what Im talking about !! . Seeking for the truth..and not stopping until its found. This is one of the main reasons why I dont mind being proven wrong..because the truth comes to light, and History and hobby are advanced

Now there are 2 examples..that adds more to the authenticity of the first hanger. So now the question......what if they are still repro and produced at the same time?......Well that could be a possibility...but according to Gerrits example..the exact same features and RZM placement with a King trade mark on the back of the snap. We see everyday ...alot of unknown TR artifacts still surfacing. We must remember that we are only viewing history through a window..we have not seen everything except those who lived it or remaining German Vets that are still alive. They are the last eyes and ears of that time.

There are varied snap clips to be seen..and most popular was the Assmann firm RZM 5/8. Yet there are also unapproved RZM types that made it from the local German hardware store also found on SA and SS daggers. RZM 5/184 was not a widely known accoutrement producer..and must of had an order to make 1000. JMO. It is obviously like may other producers of these wares..that they were isued an RZM permit..and most never used or produced anything.

Sometimes 1 is hard to believe..but a 2nd witness to the same firm and aestetics?...yea I have no problem with it. Like some SA producers..only 1000 daggers were made..and some lost to war damage..buried or destroyed....is the same as these type of limited produced clips. My apologies Ron and Tom for any doubt..but the best part is the truth was found. Best Regards Larry
