These fake blades are being flogged all the time on Ebay. Among other issues look at the distance of the maker mark to the crossguard. red flag #1.
Thanks. I assume "Lakesidetrader" is your site. I see you have a VERY nice Rohm Eickhorn dagger on there, and indeed that the maker mark is closer to the crossguard. A great reference site, as well as a safe place to buy from!
Trust me I'm far from perfect but appreciate the kind words.
Thanks for that Al.
So what happens next when the fakers make their next batch with makers marks closer to the crossguard? I truly hope there will always be some way to catch these rotten apples out.
Then we'll tell them the next obvious red flag. They watch here too. I guess that's all we can do.
An educated collector is the best weapon, but there will always be people hoping for that, "great steal on Ebay".
I already had 2 emails today on this particular Ebay auction, you watch it. Some poor soul will fork out $500 for this thing. Ebay provides an expensive education.
look at the cross grain on a mint blade, it should be even and uniform
It's got 8 days to run yet and is already at $127.50.....how sad....

That is NUTS.........!
Maybe someone is trying to 'restore' a dagger with a crappy blade
and sell it along for even more dough ! ?

Steve.
