Re: SS Dagger 1317/40 ss check this out
I would pass on it.
At first glance it might look "OK" but look closer. Note the very poor fit of the wood grip to both crossguards. The condition of the blade is also not that good due to rust pitting.
Cheers, Ade.

Ade
indeed at second look you can see that the blade is repolished but could have also (being a layman) fooled me.
Just to show that good advice is mandatory before making a rather expencive purchase.

Hi Jean, indeed! We have a saying in England, "Two sets of eyes are better than one".
Also look closely at the motto on the blade. I think this has been refinished in places too. You can see rust pitting UNDER the black finish on ethe words "heist and treue".
Cheers, Ade.

Thx guys for your replies, and for those extra eyes
thats why i post.
It looks very good when you hold it, only macro's like these reveal more.
At least it's an original, like all his daggers and stuff are.
What fair price would have this dagger on sale?

The opening to the scabbard throat looks a bit messy also

Re: SS Dagger 1317/40 ss check this out
I would love to see a photo of the tang on this one. The blade worries me. The ridge is high and off centre, and I'm thinking a Reddick blade.
But as already stated, too many red flags to even consider. They are not "rare" just everybody wants one
