the end
Hello Russtyle, Welcome to the forum. I do thank you for posting an abundant amount of photos as sometimes we dont get enough,, the more the better. I am cautiously optimistic about this dagger as this Hammesfahr maker is highly faked. This maker has the variant type 1 motto which IMO including the logo looks Ok. The scabbard is a repaint either during the period or recently as early SS makers had anodized scabbards except sometime a couple of early RZM types. I am a little reserved about the motto having pimpling as I have not encountered this maker with pimples. Boker is a notorious maker which had this. The grip has some issues which i am not sure of but hopefully others can chime in on that. The crossguards are from the producer Eickhorn. Again i am cautiously optimistic but i would like to hear other opinions on this. My question to you Russ is where to you acquire this dagger?? Regards Larry

Thanks, Larry! This dagger to me was presented by the good acquaintance.
Whether there are still opinions for somebody?
My opinion, is that this is one of the recent European fake Hammesfahr daggers. Both SA and SS Hammesfahr are now showing up with increased frequency. They usually show the "III" distribution mark as your piece does also. It may have Some original parts used in it, but the inscription looks to be lazer etched the blade exhibits absolutely no trace of crrosshatching and the grip eagle looks very odd- note the chest feathers. Could you post a couple more photos of it assembled for our reference section? (Do not tighten down the nut except with your fingers!)
William
