I would expect greater quality coming from the 1936 time period and seeing the RZM logo set in the center of the blade and not close to the lower guard ..tells me there is more going on with this dagger. The logo position is not correct for this unknown producer.
I would say without seeing close up photos of the motto and RZM number it is laser etched.
The grip is early and correct but a poor fit and does not belong with this dagger IMO. Almost appears to be an Eickhorn type.
The grip eagle screams late period as all the silvering has worn off exposing the pot metal beneath. It should be Nickel.
I could swear the runes button may be one of those SS stick pin types or the camera angle is deceiving.
Sorry to say Meme..your friend " inherited " a parted dagger and who knows when it was put together like this and the blade I would not bother with.
can you provide closer photos of the motto and RZM number...just curious.

Motto wrong, MM located wrong. 1936 on tang is ALWAYS bad.
